Full-Time Summer Internship

Description:
The full-time summer internship will provide you with a tremendous understanding of all areas of a minor-league baseball operation as you assist with the execution of the Saints’ 29th season, and 1st as the triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. Candidates must be willing to put in long hours for the entire season extending from April-September. Applicants must not have another internship or job and priority is given to graduating seniors. Payment is available if certain requirements are met.

The summer interns receive experience in the areas listed below. While there is no guarantee that an internship will be available within your specific area of interest, you will have the opportunity to learn about all of these areas of the operation:

  • Promotions/Marketing
  • Video Editing
  • Graphic Design
  • Special Events
  • Fan Services/Community Relations
  • Social Media

Please note: The St. Paul Saints do not offer any internships in player development, scouting, player operations, athletic training or anything else related to the baseball activities of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • College student with a minimum of three years of undergraduate courses completed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to quickly build rapport with customers and assess customer needs
  • Willingness to learn in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Game Day Internship

Description:
The St. Paul Saints Baseball Club is looking for creative and outgoing people who are willing to have fun. This internship provides a first-hand look at the execution of minor-league promotions and customer service initiatives. The internship will run from May-September. Game Day Internships are unpaid, though you may receive college credit if applicable.

Qualifications:

  • College student with a minimum of one year of undergraduate courses completed
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn in a fast paced environment
  • Flexible hour availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities:
Experiences on game nights may/will include:

  • On-field promotions
  • Sponsorship fulfillment
  • Set up and tear down of certain areas in the ballpark
  • Crowd interaction
  • Provide premier customer service to fans
  • Promote the Fun Is Good atmosphere

Media Relations Internship (Must be a college graduate)

The Saints are the Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins and are looking to bring on a Media Relations Intern. This person must exhibit strong writing skills, an understanding of the game of baseball, willingness to work long hours, solid organizational skills, and enjoy working in a fun environment. The Media Relations Intern will be responsible for the following:​​​​​​

  • Compiling game notes, statistics and trends for broadcasts
  • Assisting Saints staff, press box staff, and local media as needed
  • Responsible for production and writing of Saints homestand news and programs. This includes writing articles, gathering ads and communicating with print companies
  • Responsible for updating the Saints website with stories, player bios and transactions
  • Game day ballpark set-up
  • Assisting in social media with Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc.
  • Assisting video coordinator with player interviews, community events and putting together video packages for the website and video board
  • Assisting other staff members with daily operations

 

Hours for the full-time intern (subject to change):

  • Weekday Home Games: 9:00 a.m. until everything is completed following the game
  • Saturday Home Games: 10:00 a.m. until everything is completed following the game
  • Sunday Home Games: Noon until everything is completed following the game
  • Weekday Away Games: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Weekend Away Games: Helping with outside events (if necessary) or writing stories for the next program

 

Additional duties:

  • Assist all other full-time staff and interns with game day duties, prior to and following games
  • Pulling Tarp
  • Ticket orders
  • Opportunity to sell group tickets
  • Other duties as assigned

ASSISTANT TURF MANAGER

The St. Paul Saints (AAA-Minnesota Twins) have an opening for an Assistant Turf Manager at CHS Field. CHS Field is the home of the St. Paul Saints and Hamline University Pipers, as well as the host of the MSHSL State Tournament, other baseball events, and special events/concerts.

Start Date: February 1 st , 2021

Compensation: Dependent on experience. Full-Time with benefits package.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with Game Day Preparation of CHS Field: Field Prep, Batting Practice, and Pre-game setup
  • Manage staff on a daily basis
  • Daily Field Maintenance (mowing, painting, infield care, mound and plate work, watering, and fertilizing)
  • Assist with non-Saints field usage: Concerts, baseball, festivals and private events
  • Maintain landscape areas, dog park, and building
  • Any other jobs assigned by the Turf Manager

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Degree in Turf Management or a related field
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to work long hours, weekends and holidays
  • Able to work in weather extremes common in Minnesota
  • Have passion for sports turf and willingness to learn new techniques and use knowledge obtained through your education
  • Present yourself in a professional manner, in accordance to Saints handbook, to show professionalism during and away from CHS Field
  • Ability to use motorized equipment and basic maintenance knowledge of that equipment
  • Respect all players, coworkers and patrons using CHS Field
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • MN Applicators license, or the ability to obtain one within 60 days

TURF INTERNSHIP 2021

The St. Paul Saints have an opening for a sports turf intern during the 2021 season at CHS Field. CHS Field is the home of the St.Paul Saints (AAA- Minnesota Twins) and Hamline Pipers. Located in Lower Town St. Paul, Minnesota, CHS Field is a state of the art, sustainable ballpark that opened in 2015 and is host to 100+ baseball events each year, including the MSHSL State Tournament and MIAC tournament. Special events, concerts, and festivals are also hosted at CHS Field.

Availability: April 2021 – September 2021. Dates are flexible.

Compensation: $1800 monthly stipend. Housing not provided.

Fan Services - Usher

Summary: Provide fans with a consistent level of friendly, impressive service that exceeds their expectations. We want fans to feel welcomed as they walk through our gates and safe while they are in their seats. Fun is good, but we are nothing without our fans!

This position requires constant attention to detail and following simple to complex instructions. It also requires constant use of diplomatic skills. You must be able to recognize and resolve conflicts while performing the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes guests to CHS Field with a courteous and energetic attitude
  • Checks tickets and shows fans to their seats
  • Provide event information and general ballpark directions
  • Speak to disruptive guests about their behavior relative to ballpark policy
  • Enforce ballpark policies and safety procedures Ability to manage difficult or emotional situations
  • Respond promptly to customer needs and/or requests for service/assistance
  • Direct fans to facilities such as Fan Services, restrooms, ATMs, and concession stands
  • Move through assigned seating areas and assists with guest issues and questions
  • Help in maintaining a clean ballpark by picking up any garbage or debris found
  • Ability to stand and move about the ballpark for several hours

Fan Services - Security

St. Paul Saints Game Day Security Staff (Part Time) are responsible for the safety and security of all guests and employees while providing a safe and enjoyable event for all guests and fellow team members.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Enforces security policies and procedures upon entry to CHS Field
  • Monitors entry and exit points to include hand-wand device screening of guests and bags prior to entering the facility
  • Executes orderly security screening processes and may assist in emergency evacuation of the premises
  • Interested applicants may also work enforcing permit parking in the staff/player parking lot
  • Additional duties as required

Fan Services - Fun Facilitator

Summary: Facilitate Fun throughout the HealthPartners PowerUp Play Zone located on the Centerfield Concourse of CHS Field. Interact with children, parents and fans with a consistent level of friendly, impressive service. Exceed guest expectations while providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. Fun is good, but we are nothing without our fans!

This position requires genuine interest and aptitude in working with young children and consistent attention to detail and safety. The position also requires professional behavior and a sense of humor. You must be able to recognize and resolve conflicts, while performing the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome children and parents to the CHS Field HealthPartners PowerUp Play Zone with a courteous and energetic attitude
  • Explain and organize PowerUp Play Zone activities and accept payment
  • Assist with climbing wall safety harness and equipment
  • Provide event information and general ballpark directions
  • Enforce ballpark policies and procedures to keep our fans safe
  • Respond promptly to customer needs and requests for service or assistance
  • Help in maintaining a clean and organized PowerUp Play Zone play area
  • Ability to stand and move about the ballpark for several hours, sometimes in inclement weather or a heatwave

Part-Time Operations Staff

General Duties

  • Daily cleaning of restrooms in Saints offices and service level corridor. Other areas as needed
  • Daily cleaning of outdoor areas
  • Perform cleaning and waste removal throughout ballpark before, during, and after club events and baseball games
  • Maintain a clean environment on the Club level
  • Set up and tear down Club level before, during, and after premium events
  • Assist Event Manager and Operations Manager/Assistants when accommodating the needs of baseball teams, coaches, and trainers
  • Assist Grounds Crew, Fan Services and Ushers as needed
  • Assist with the closing and clearing of ballpark after games
  • Work as parking lot attendant when needed (may need to handle cash)
