After ending his playing career in spring training of that year, the Fairfax, MN native began as a Saints baseball analyst that June. The ex-St. Cloud State star won 10 big league games, including eight in Boston’s division championship season of 1990. That season he was named Red Sox Rookie of the Year. Unfortunately, Dana suffered an elbow injury that required postseason surgery. It prevented him from pitching in the majors again but has not affected his work in the booth … so far.
